Tragically, after an accident on the Riverina Highway near Bull Plain Road Rennie this morning, a man has died and a woman is in a critical condition.
Around 9.30am this morning (Thursday, April 21), emergency services were called to the Riverina Highway near Bull Plain Road, Rennie after a Toyota Landcruiser towing a caravan and a white Mitsubishi ASX collided.
Three people were trapped in the Mitsubishi with the male driver passing away at the scene.
A female passenger, seated in the rear of the Mitsubishi was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition. Her injuries are considered life-threatening.
A man, travelling in the front-passenger seat, was taken by road to Albury Hospital.
The male driver and female passenger of the Landcruiser were not injured. They are assisting police with inquiries.
A crime scene has been established and will be examined by officers attached to Murray River Police District.
The Riverina Highway and Bull Plain Road are still closed in both directions with traffic diversions in place. Traffic is to divert eastbound via Savernake Road and westbound via Bull Plain Road.
