From ballet and jazz to hip-hop and ballroom, the Shepparton Dance Festival will feature a range of styles.
The event is being organised by co-owners of Excell Dance Centre Amanda Costa (Garner) and Sebastian Costa, with help from Sheree Dalitz.
Mrs Costa said there hasn’t been a dace competition like this in Shepparton in at least a decade.
“It was our dream to try and have something for dance in our little town,” she said.
“We always have to travel, so our students are just so thrilled to have a competition here.”
Winning Dancing With The Stars, performing on overseas on cruise ships and co-owning Excell Dance Centre are just some of Mrs Costa’s accomplishments, but the dance festival is her and her husband’s next dream.
“Our next step is to bring a competition to our community,” Mrs Costa said.
The festival includes jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, tap and more.

The day will kick off at 8.15am, with theatrical dance and will move into ballroom and Latin dancing after 4pm.
Spectators can expect to see a vast range of dancers, from novices to seasoned performers.
“The dancers will be competing against kids and adults from other studios all around regional Victoria and parts of NSW,” Mrs Costa said.
“Everyone’s training as we speak…everyone wants that 1st place.
“The evening will feature higher-level ballroom events which is just great fun to watch.”
Mrs Costa said visitors can get a ticket and stay all day, or make an evening of it to see the ballroom dancing on Saturday night.
“Even people who aren’t usually into dancing typically find they enjoy it more than they think,” she said.
“Team spirit is always nice to see, especially when it’s locals supporting locals.”
There will be two food trucks and a coffee van at the venue on the day.
“You can have something to eat, you can watch some dancing...it'll be a great day of entertainment,” Mrs Costa said.
“Hopefully, it can become something we do every year.”
