It’s not your average music venue, but a natural amphitheatre carved deep into the red earth.

On Saturday, November 29, Dookie Quarry will undergo its annual transformation into one of the most breathtaking regional stages, for Grounded Festival, a one-day celebration of live music, community and Country.
Launched in 2019 as an offshoot of the Goulburn Valley’s Secret Garden Gigs, Grounded has evolved into an annual pilgrimage, attracting performers from across Victoria to the pulse of Yorta Yorta land.
To be part of it is to feel something.
And to be running it is a “real privilege”, event co-ordinator Jamie Lea said.
“For me, bringing together musicians and an audience of appreciators and live music lovers is everything it needs to be: celebrating what we love about our region,” she said.
“There’s one stage, one space, and everyone’s in it together.
“Some of the best performances I’ve ever seen have happened at Grounded.”
And this year’s lineup is no less than the best.
Headlining the event are acclaimed duo Sam + Sam, joined by soulful legends The Meltdown, Yorta Yorta and Gunditjmara performer Isaiah Firebrace, indie rock duo This Way North, rising star Kaitlyn Martin, and folk-pop romantics The Wildlings.

For Firebrace, the performance is a homecoming.
“I’ll be sharing songs about home, in language and really representing Yorta Yorta Country through music and story,” he said.
“I want people to sing along, dance and feel good, but also feel the heart of where I come from.”
Grounded prides itself on championing local performers, as well as groups and businesses.
On the day of the event, community stalls will be set up to raise essential funds; Dookie Fire Brigade will manage parking; and attendees can enjoy coffee, a licensed bar and a variety of food trucks, all provided by regional vendors.
But wait, there’s more.
The celebrations continue on Sunday, November 30, as The Gladstone Pub in Dookie hosts the Grounded Wind Down Party.
This free session will feature live music from Parmy Dhillon and Tom Harrington – a perfect capstone to a music-filled weekend.
