Thompson’s machine-gun barrage has boosted Echuca-Moama Green to the ladder’s top.

Goulburn Valley Hockey Association crossed into the second half of the season on Saturday and, in the women’s grade, one player was well and truly on the march.

Echuca-Moama Green’s Courtney Thompson flattened Shepparton Youth Club with a handful of goals as the River Rats ran riot during a 6-0 win.

Meaghan Whan was the other scorer in the top-of-the-table clash, which elevates Green five points clear.

Meanwhile, Strikers held pace in third thanks to a 3-1 triumph over Euroa.

Eloise Collins, Taya Hayes and Vanessa Hayes-Beetson all hit the back of the net in the win.

In A-grade men, a Xavier McBain three-piece lifted Strikers to its biggest victory of the season.

On the road against Echuca-Moama, McBain slapped a hat-trick to steer Strikers to an 8-0 win, supplemented by an Angus Cole brace as well as goals from Timothy Russell, Gurbaj Singh and Danny Ballinger.

B-grade men’s action had SYC defeat Echuca-Moama 5-1, while Strikers prevailed over Mooroopna, winning 2-0.
