The ladies played their second round of the 100-up on October 5, with Heather Crosthwaite and Cheryl Townsend the winners.
The pair will now play semi-finals against Ruth Campbell and Kerry Ralph respectively.
Ladies’ singles are due to start this coming Monday, October 19.
Unfortunately, the ladies’ trade day last Wednesday at Finley had to be cancelled due to rain; hoping for better luck this week.
The first round of the men's trade days was played at Cobram in wet and windy conditions.
No winners were advised however, well done to those brave bowlers who battled the weather conditions on the day.
The next round is at Barooga on Thursday, followed by Tocumwal next week.
In other news, we had the Share the Wealth tournament played Tuesday.
Keith's Friday had 32 bowlers play, and the winners were Gerald Rothe and Brian Baldwin with +37.
Runners-up were decided on ends won, as both partnerships of Helen Quinn-Len Magee and Bill Hoog-Ken Newton had 17, with eventual runner-up being Quinn and Magee with 14 ends won.
Best first game went to Hoog and Newton with 12, so a consolation to them in losing the runners-up.
Best second game went to Archie Ellis and Liz Ewing with 10.
The jackpot did not go off and is now worth $287.00 this week.
Monday night bowls starts on Monday, November 9 at 7.30 pm. Names must be in by 7 pm on the night, or preferably by contacting Col Campbell on 0419 879 562 before the start to register your interest in playing.
Our club events are about to start, with a busy program ahead, but there's still time to get your name down for events, including the club fours.
Don't forget, practice is on Wednesdays at 4 pm, and the club's presentation day/evening is to be held on Sunday, October 25, starting at 2 pm with a social game of bowls, names on sheet for that.
The Northern Rivers challenge was played last Saturday at Berrigan and Barooga with our teams at Barooga (Ken Newton, Mary Smethurst, Heather Crosthwaite and Gordon Bennett) and at Berrigan (Ruth Burnett, Neville Ingram, Kerry Ralph and Brett Wright) being winners of the day and taking home the spoils.
Congratulations to both teams.
