RiverConnect and Birdlife Murray Goulburn have partnered together to bring ‘‘Breakfast with the Birds’’ — A morning for young and old to explore the Australian Botanic Gardens before enjoying breakfast together.
RiverConnect project officer Meg Pethybridge said those attending had a good chance of encountering several different bird species.
‘‘It’s a great site as there has been 115 different bird species recorded here in five years,’’ Ms Pethybridge said.
‘‘We expect to see kookaburras, cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets and lots of wetland birds.’’
She said the event was the perfect opportunity for those who were interested but were not sure how to increase their chances of seeing birds.
‘‘Birdlife Murray Goulburn members will take you on an avian adventure, identifying the amazing variety of birds that frequent our beautiful area,’’ Ms Pethybridge said.
‘‘For community members, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn to spot and identify birds from local experts.’’
Ms Pethybridge said the event would kick off with a walk around the gardens and a bird survey, which would be followed by a free breakfast of pancakes and fruit.
The Breakfast with the Birds event is provided as a free activity through the Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park program.
Registrations are required for the event and participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing, bring a drink bottle and remember to be sun smart.
