The 14 pairs were split into four groups, where they played each other pair in their group to find the top two pairs to progress to the final eight play-off.
Young Caylee Crilly with partner Darren Manners did extremely well to progress to the semi-finals. Newcomers to the area, Vicki Birch and Darryl Simmonds, who have moved down from Newcastle, also progressed to the semis and will prove to be valuable assets to the league.
All matches were the best of three, 601 until the final which was best of five. The final was a very one-sided affair with Joanne and Michael easily beating the husband-and-wife duo of Fran and Paul Seaton. Highlights of the night included three 180s from Michael, while Joanne threw one. The highest peg went to our president Shane Broucek with a 104 finish.
The evening ran smoothly, and all matches were finished by 10.15pm. Host Stuart Diggerson supplied a sumptuous supper and the friendly atmosphere was felt by all.
2024 Winter Season
We’re currently taking teams for the winter season, which will hopefully kick off in mid-to-late July. If you’re looking for a game, contact Gary on 0429 943 450 or email emdartscd@gmail.com
Venues thinking of fielding a team should also contact Gary.
Most venues in the area that currently don’t have a team should receive an invitation in the mail this week and are urged to seriously consider joining our sport, which is great for the whole family. Everyone is encouraged to become involved.
