Free travel now, cheaper fares to come

On Sunday, April 19 the Victorian Government announced the extension, as the war in the Middle East continues to keep fuel prices high and households under pressure.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said it was her job to help Victorians feel safe and make life more affordable in such uncertain circumstances.

“As premier, I’m determined to do everything in my control to help Victorians who are under pressure,” Ms Allan said.

“I know this won’t solve every problem, but it’s another step I can take to help Victorians right now.”

Under half-price fares, a full daily fare will cost $5.70 to travel anywhere across Victoria, not $11.40.

Public transport will remain permanently free for under 18s and other special pass holders.
