As well as a way of saying thank you, the gathering at the Deniliquin RSL Club doubled as another opportunity to progress the transition of the service under the Uniting Care banner.
Meals on Wheels in Deniliquin was previously administered under Berrigan and District Aged Care Association Ltd.
After going into receivership, Amaroo was purchased and now comes under the auspices of Uniting Care.
The transition from Amaroo to Uniting took place in December.
At last week’s morning tea, Gael Yap from Uniting met with volunteers to take them through the handbook for volunteers.
Local coordinator Ingrid Greve said the organisation is always on the lookout for more volunteers to deliver this worthwhile service.
If you can assist in any way, contact Ingrid on 0488 472 622.
