After starting their season with a competitive showing against Shepparton Gators, the Breakers failed to bring the scoreboard pressure against a strong Blasters unit.

With both teams fielding relatively younger squads this year, it was Seymour’s youth who rose to the occasion, led superbly by junior talent Tayha Watkins (25 points, including four-three pointers) in hitting the scoreboard.
“Seymour has an extremely good side,” Lady Breakers coach Tony Long said.
“For us it was always a tough game.
“We didn’t get down to our stuff and settle into our game until the last quarter.
“We were a bit like a deer in the headlights.
“We got a bit excited and ran away with ourselves.”
While the Breakers were able to get to the ring and put up shots on numerous occasions, it was their finishing off of shots that ultimately let the team down.
Lady Breakers fall short of historic first win, but earn respect
And while this area of the game is something Long said the team would continue to work on at training, it was not something he was putting too much stock in.
“You’ve got to get a lot of match play to get that time in with your shots,” the coach said.
“You can’t beat being on the court and playing with the speed of a game.
“It will be tough to get to that level, but it’s something you can train for and work your way into it.”
