Meeting at Jordan's Bend, the group set off for the 30-minute walk along the heritage-listed Goulburn River.
Ranger Emma Banting said it was a great opportunity to experience the variety of birds, learn about the history of the river and its significance to the Shepparton area.
“The walk is flat, easy and guided by one of our rangers to encourage people to feel comfortable in their surroundings and eventually commit to walking at their own leisure,” Ms Banting said.
“It passes by the Goulburn River which is the longest river in Victoria, and we take time to admire the many river gums — home to cockatoos, galahs and parrots.”
Shepparton resident Marcus Ibaceta said it was the perfect way to be introduced to the area.
“I have just moved here and it was a great way to learn about my new surroundings and explore the local walking tracks,” Mr Ibaceta said.
