There was an increased police presence in north Shepparton yesterday afternoon, with police on the hunt for a suspect vehicle.
Shepparton police Senior Constable Shaun-Maree Brock said police initially attended the Shepparton Golf Course just after 2pm.
"Police attended Kingfisher Dv and the Shepparton Golf Course in regards to a suspect vehicle," she said.
"That vehicle had been of police interest for a couple of days."
Sen Const Brock said when police arrived in the area the vehicle took off. It was later located at the golf course without the driver inside.
Police confirmed the vehicle had been involved in a previous offence but could not give specific details about the incident.
Sen Const Brock said a number of items were found inside the vehicle; however, she could not confirm what they were.
For a number of hours after the incident, police could be seen canvassing the area around the golf course and stopping vehicles travelling on Kingfisher Dv.
"At this stage we have got one person assisting with inquiries and another person we are still trying to locate," she said.
Sen Const Brock said the investigation was ongoing.
