Undefeated outfit and powerhouse club Katandra will make its way to Frank Howley Oval to take on winless Tatura in round four of the Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shield season.
Katandra is coming off a stunning 96-run win against Kyabram, with Ben Clurey (72 runs), Jedd Wright (53) and Scott Richardson (3-14) the stars of the show.
From two innings this season, Wright has 123 runs at an average of 61.5, as the Eagles’ skipper continues to showcase his freakish skills.
But Tatura captain Michael Archer understands what is ahead for him and his young outfit come tomorrow when they take on the mighty Eagles and he sees it as a terrific opportunity against one of the leading outfits.
“We're not shying away from it, we know it's a big test ahead of us,” Archer said.
“But it's another great opportunity for us to play against and learn off the very best in the competition and see what it takes to get to that level of cricket.
“It's a good test for us and being a young side, hopefully the boys take it all in and give it their best crack.”
Last week Tatura suffered a 57-run loss to Karramomus, but showed glimpses of its talent, with Jayden Armstrong and Bailey Archer bowling tidy spells with the new ball and David Miller falling four runs short of a half-century.
Taking wickets has not been an issue for Tatura after three rounds, with the side ranked fifth in the competition for most dismissals taken.
But Archer is hoping to see some improvement in the side's fielding after it had been prioritised during the week at training.
“Fielding has been a major focus this week,” he said.
“Being a young group, we probably don't understand how important fielding can be in limiting sides those extra 30 or 40 runs.”
