Shepparton Central Rotary Club in partnership with Goulburn Valley Health Foundation put on the event at the Shepparton Golf Club.
The guest speaker was former Essendon captain Jobe Watson, who admitted he was just there to watch the proceedings.
“It’s a beautiful setting, but I’m not much of a golfer myself so I didn’t participate,” he said.
The day's co-organiser Phil Squires said they were hoping to raise more than $20 000, having raised more than $800 000 for various community organisations in the past 30 years.
GVHF director Carmel Johnson said the funds this year would go towards the GV Health Scholar program.
“We’re incredibly appreciative of the support we get from this day,” she said.
“We’d like to acknowledge Phil Squires and Rob Kelly from Central Shepparton Rotary Club.”
Hot and Cold Shop director Paul Marshall was certainly hot, winning the golf and taking home $600 cold, hard cash.
“It was an amazing day amongst a top group of golfers on a lovely course,” he said,
“We’ve been training for about six months, but I carried the ship today.”
However, the highlight of the day was when Shepparton News sports journalist Alex Mitchell chipped in over a bunker from 40 m.
“It was insane,” he said.
Edward McLeish, another journalist at The News, won a $300 Specsavers voucher for his efforts.
“I’ve never won anything in my life, so I’m stoked,” he said.
