Musical inventor Jon Madin visits McGuire College

McGuire College students were treated to a world of percussion and string instruments while taking part in a series of musical workshops.

Students in years seven to 10 were mentored by teacher and inventor of musical instruments Jon Madin, who travels internationally delivering the musical programs.

Mr Madin said the program was an opportunity for students to play instruments such as marimbas and drums.

“The instruments are a combination of whatever wacky instruments I bring along on the day,” he said.

McGuire College music co-ordinator Gabrielle Ryan said having Mr Madin at the school allowed students to learn about unique musical instruments and to discover creativity within themselves.

Ms Ryan said the program could be described as a personal development exercise.
