This year’s annual ConnectGV fundraiser had the community dig deep, donating almost $26000 through the event and a donation callout.

ConnectGV chief executive Carolynne Young said the sell-out event was a fantastic night, hosted in Jim and Ange Andreadis’ beautiful, manicured gardens.
She said guests heard from emcee Darren Hall, a past treasurer and board director, who provided guests with the history of ConnectGV.
‘‘I think he really struck a chord with everyone on the new build and the need for the new build,’’ Ms Young said.
She said the funds raised from this year’s event would go towards the much-needed day options facility.
‘‘The facility that is currently being operated out of is no longer fit for purpose and beyond refurbishment,’’ she said.
Mr Hall provided guests with detail on the trailblazers of the 1950s and 1960s, who realised early on getting the job done came down to the efforts of the community.
Guests on Friday night also heard from Darren Cook.
Mr Cook’s son Sam attends ConnectGV and he shared what ConnectGV meant to them as a family and what Sam had achieved during his time there.
‘‘Darren also broached how the NDIS has impacted on the way Sam will receive supports into the future,’’ Ms Young said.
While Ms Young said they did ask for monetary donations to include in the ‘‘I Made a Difference’’ booklet, there were other ways the community could show its support.
She said a woman had attempted to reach out via Facebook to help with the floral arrangements for the fundraiser event.
Having had no response due to the post being missed, Ms Young said the woman then popped into ConnectGV on the day of the event to help with the flower arrangements.
‘‘She’s wanting to donate her time and assist where she can,’’ Ms Young said, adding it was a great way of supporting the facility.
Ms Young also thanked major supporter Development Edge.
