The event invites visitors to delve into art, engage in conversations, enjoy drinks and savour live music.
As the sun sets, the museum’s galleries will come alive, offering a unique after-dark experience for art enthusiasts.
At 6pm, the Melbourne-based artist behind SAM’s current major exhibition, ELEVATION, Ash Keating, will share his creative journey in conversation with Blackartprojects director David Hagger and SAM chief executive Melinda Martin.
Attendees will have the opportunity to embark on a guided tour led by SAM staff, showcasing key works from the museum’s extensive art collection.
The level four bar will be open throughout the evening.
Guests can enjoy drinks, nibbles and watch the sun set while listening to a live DJ set by Shepparton-based online record store Record Per Tutti.
Additionally, participants can unleash their creativity through a hands-on still-life sketching activity, featuring ceramics from the SAM collection.
The museum shop and all galleries will also be open, offering extended-hour access and evening shopping opportunities.
SAM at Sunset will take place on Thursday, May 25, from 5pm to 8pm.
Entry to the museum and the talks is free.
