Former Echuca United and Lockington-Bamawm United player Ricky Walsh is playing a starring role in Northern Territory football.
Walsh won his second Doug Kelly Medal for league best-and-fairest in three seasons playing with Katherine Camels in the Big Rivers Football League.
Beginning his career in the junior ranks at Echuca United, Walsh took his talents to LBU, where he made more than 100 appearances, before making the move to the NT in 2022.
Not averse to getting his name on the scoresheet, Walsh kicked 32 goals from 47 games with the Eagles and averaged more than a goal per contest with LBU, kicking 129 from 107 matches.
Walsh was named on the wing for the Camels’ grand final against Ngukurr Bulldogs on Saturday, and his side claimed the flag 13.9 (87) to 11.4 (70).
Polling 12 votes in the best-and-fairest race, Walsh shared the award in a tie with teammate William Robinson.
It is his second best-and-fairest and premiership double after also accomplishing the feat in 2022 in his inaugural season with the Camels.
