The Bendigo Junior Classic was held over the Australia Day long weekend and the Rochester Tigers basketballers were in the thick of the action.
Nine Rochester sides travelled to Bendigo for the tournament, ranging from under-12s up to under-18s and competing in division three.
The starring performance for Rochester came from the under-12 girls’ side, which not only went undefeated (5-0) in its pool, but went on to lift the trophy.
After scoring a semi-final victory, 27-8, over Melton, the Tigers went on to defeat Bendigo 26-15 in the final.
The Tigers’ under-12 boys also had an impressive group stage, finishing undefeated, but were eliminated by Surfcoast Chargers in the semi-final.
Rochy’s under-16 boys also had a strong pool stage, qualifying for a quarter-final where they defeated Tatura before falling at the semi-final stage to Ararat.
The under-18 boys’ side compiled a 4-1 record in the pool stage, earning a semi-final place where it suffered a 48-41 loss to Warragul.
The under-18 girls also fell at the semi-final stage, edged out by Maryborough 21-23.
