After a winless first five games, including a round one forfeit, Shepparton has unveiled a coaching change, with Zac Woolfield announced to take charge.
The Sunshine Coast native has held a range of coaching roles across National Premier League (NPL) and state soccer, including assistant coach, technical director and head coaching positions.
Woolfield replaces Shepparton’s effective interim coach Connor Mclaughlin who will move into an assistant coaching role and play a part in aiding Woolfield’s integration with the group, with his current knowledge and insight into the playing group valuable for the Reds’ staffing transition.
Shepparton announced the changeover in a statement on Sunday.
“We are excited to announce Zac Woolfield as our new Senior Head Coach,” the post read.
“This appointment also sees Coach Connor move into the role of Assistant Coach, where his commitment and understanding of the group will continue to be a valuable asset.
“Zac is an FFA A Licence qualified coach with extensive experience across NPL and State League football.
“He has held roles at Virtus FC, Woombye FC, and Coolum FC... He is known for his structured, high-intensity style of play, strong tactical discipline, and ability to develop players into senior football.”
Shepparton host Golden City at Vibert Reserve for its round six clash on Sunday.
