Completed in March 2025, an investment of $1.7 million transformed the facility into a world class space featuring a new two-storey, multi-use pavilion, enhanced start hills and upgraded track surfaces.
The year that followed has been a resounding triumph for the Goulburn Valley region, with the vision of Victorian Government's Regional Sports Infrastructure Program realized at the 2026 AusCycling BMX Racing National Series.
All eyes within the cycling community were on Shepparton for the garland spectacle as elite and budding BMX riders came together for a memorable event in the week of April 14.
The event showcased the best of the region’s sporting offering, with the venue proving a hit with competitors and spectators alike, all while providing a bumper $6 million stimulus to the Greater Shepparton economy.
There was further reason for celebration too during the BMX Track’s moment in lights as AusCycling announced that the city will host the 2028 UCI BMX Racing World Cup in the lead up to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles later that year.
Now, the success of the project has been marked at state level, with the venue having been announced as the Bunnings Trade Local Government Initiative of the Year at the Victorian Sport Awards.
Shane Sali, Mayor of Greater Shepparton was among the dignitaries who made the trip to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the prize ceremony which was hosted by Vicsport and the Victorian Government on May 13.
