In a Goulburn Valley League competition previously dominated by wise heads, Shepparton United’s leading light is blazing a trail for the revolution of youth.
And throughout July, she was at her barnstorming best.
Onley strung together three 30-plus goal performances for the first time this season, which included a season-best effort of 36 against Mansfield in round 13.
She plays well beyond her years, making Onley the worthy recipient of The News’ GVL netball Rising Star award for July.
The Demons’ goaler is automatic in her approach.
Lethal with her finish.
And currently sitting fourth on the league goal-shooting charts with 417.
She only trails a trio of seasoned experts under the ring in Mooroopna’s Ash Lancaster, Shepparton’s Kim Borger and Euroa’s Olivia Morris, so it’s clear to see why United has put the house on Onley’s rising stock.
The departure of ace goaler Tamara Skinner to Kyabram over the off-season called for Onley to step up, and she has delivered in spades.
Onley has forged an iron-wrought bond with boom recruit Abby Gilmore during 2025, and as United creeps back into finals contention following its most recent win, coach Shinea Sali couldn’t be prouder of her precocious and pinpoint shooter.
“Hannah's commitment to shooting accuracy and fitness this season has been incredible; it's been exciting as a coach to watch her perform at this level,” she said.
“Although Han is a rising star, she plays with such confidence and ability beyond her years and has been a leader on and off the court.”
