World Cup live sites will be held across the state of Victoria, including at Melbourne’s Federation Square and AAMI Park, as well as the regional locations of Ballarat, Bendigo, Gippsland, Geelong and Shepparton.
Shepparton Showgrounds will be the location for the screening of Australia's opening match against Türkiye on Sunday June 14, which kicks off at 2pm (AEST) that day.
In terms of the remaining Group D games involving Australia, Melbourne’s AAMI Park and Federation Square will host live sites for all three matches.
Security measures will be in place at Federation Square including fencing, entry gates, bag searches and hand wands to ensure everyone is safe.
With big screens, passionate crowds and a strong sense of community, the live sites are free for Victorians to enjoy the atmosphere of a major match beyond the stadium gates.
Following on from the clash against Australia vs Türkiye in less than two weeks time, Tony Popovic’s charges will face off against tournament hosts, the United States on Saturday, June 20 from 5am.
In the final group game, Australia will play Paraguay on Friday, June 26, kicking off from 12pm - with supporters of the Land Down Under’s stars hopeful that the Socceroos can match their performance at the last World Cup.
Back in 2022, the boys in green and gold proved one of the most exciting teams in the competition, bowing out at the last-16 stage after falling to defeat against eventual winners Argentina.
More information on regional live sites for the remaining matches will be available from regional councils.
The Minister for Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, spoke with optimism ahead of what promises to be an exciting tournament over in the Americas.
“The World Cup brings us together and now the 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to our backyard,” he said.
“These live sites mean every Victorian can come together and be part of the World Cup."
Meanwhile, Minister for Tourism Natalie Suleyman spoke of the importance of the live screening events for metropolitan and regional areas alike in Victoria.
"From Melbourne to Shepparton, Ballarat to Gippsland Victorians will be cheering on the Socceroos together,“ she said.
“This is a win for fans and a boost for tourism and local business in regional communities."
