Yarrawonga 48 def Myrtleford 46
Yarrawonga’s A grade netball side showed up this week adamant to reverse the result from round three against Myrtleford.
The sun was out and so were the spectators, who were treated to a fast paced, close game of netball.
The Saints were once again quick out of the blocks, applying strong defensive pressure down the court and capitalising on turnovers.
Down by five goals at quarter time, the Pigeons made a couple of changes and were able to produce a ten goal turn around by half time.
Myrtleford weren’t going to roll over though and fought back to a roughly even score by three quarter time. Defensive brilliance by Annalise Grinter and Kylie Leslie combined with great strength from young gun shooter Kaleisha Pell meant that the Pigeons were able to creep ahead and get their last goal after the final whistle to win by two goals.
Yarrawonga will look to take momentum into their clash with ladder leaders Wangaratta Magpies next week.
Best: Kaleisha Pell and Kylie Leslie.
B Grade
Yarrawonga 41 def by Myrtleford 47
Was always going to be a hard challenge for B Grade coming up against the first placed Myrtleford side due to many injuries, but the girls put up a solid fight.
The match was even for most of the first half. The Pigeons were grateful for the support of Anna Carty who worked well with Grace in defence and pushed the opposition goalers to the end.
The difference was the final quarter when Myrtleford got their hands to some intercepts and capitalised on those.
Thank you also to Emma Sinclair and Ava Phibbs who also provided support for the team after already playing a game prior.
Best: Players player - Abbey Chapman and Anna Carty.
C Grade
Yarrawonga 20 def by Myrtleford 50.
Was a tough day for the C grade girls and Myrtleford came out hard and fast.
With three players out, the Pigeons tried their best to make do and continue to fight but it just wasn’t their day. Lots of positives to take away and lots of opportunities to improve.
The C Grade are looking forward to taking on Wangaratta Magpies and will come out with fire in their bellies next week.
Best: Players Player - Sophie Wilson and Bree Strawhorn.
Under 17s
Yarrawonga 39 def by Myrtleford 57
Once again, another beautiful day in Yarrawonga saw the Under 17s come up against a strong team (Myrtleford).
Both teams were able to make a strong start and keep it in between 6 points for the 1st half of the game. Zoe Schweda and Skai McConnell were rebounding missed goals and intercepting any time they could.
Milla Fletcher, Kendall Connell and Claudia Cruickshank worked tirelessly to earn as many turnovers despite the height in the Myrtleford’s attacking.
The midcourters Indi Wheeler, Emily Liddell and Chloe Liddell worked hard to transition the ball from defence to attack feeding beautifully to the shooters.
Lucy Judd and Mylah Kennedy work beautifully together with perfect shooting in the ring. Sadly the Saints were too strong.
Under 15

Myrtleford obtained an early lead and maintained it throughout the game. However, the Pigeons remained competitive.
Liv had a great game in defence, causing many turnovers and Ruby was her usual composed best in goals.
