Yarrawonga 50 def Wodonga 32
After threatening all morning, the heavens opened minutes before the A grade match started between Yarrawonga and Wodonga Bulldogs.
With the rain falling, both teams immediately had to change game plans and above all, prioritise possession over everything.
The first couple of minutes of the game were goal for goal, however the Pigeons were able to show greater composure in the wet, better maintaining possession and showing accuracy under the goal ring.
Yarrawonga were nine goals up at quarter time and pushed out to a 17-goal lead at half time.
The Bulldogs made some changes at half time and were able to match the Pigeons in the final two quarters.

Under 17s

What a fantastic team effort this weekend, even though the Under 17s came up short in the end.
Soph and Leni were composed and confident in the shooting circle, showing great patience and making smart choices under pressure.
Their accuracy kept the scoreboard ticking over and gave the Pigeons real momentum in attack.
Leni also did an awesome job swapping roles with Kendall as both players adapted seamlessly and gave it their all wherever they were needed.
In the midcourt, Jedda, Miley, and Lily were relentless.
Their strong drives and quick decision-making opened up space beautifully, while their defensive hustle and clean hands led to multiple turnovers and fast transitions.
Kendall was rock-solid in defence, bringing energy and focus throughout.
Her flexibility and calm approach, especially when switching with Leni, was a real asset. Kendall’s ability to read the play and get hands to ball created constant pressure and disrupted the opposition’s flow.
A special thank you to the under-15 players who stepped up to play for the Under 17s last weekend.
The side really needed your support, and you all brought energy and skill to the court, the game couldn’t have been done without you.
An excellent all-round performance with every player stepping up – sadly, the side didn’t get the win, but well done, team, you all gave it your best.
Under 15s

A well-fought game for the girls against the Wodonga Bulldogs.
Avoiding the rain, but battling a wet court the Under 15s were able to consistently stay in the game for four quarters, which is something the side have been working on for many weeks.
While the side wasn’t able to secure the win they narrowed their loss to a margin of 10 goals, which was something to celebrate.
The defenders battled hard against tall shooters all game and were able to come away with many interceptions and rebounds, which allowed to capitalise at the other end. The midcourt transitioned the ball well and made great use of resetting the ball to the transverse line.
The Under 15 shooters worked tirelessly all day with multiple rotations throughout the game, moving well and shooting with great accuracy.
All in all, a great game.
Best: Makayla George and Milla Kelly.
