Echuca United has lost and gained A-grade best-and-fairests ahead of this season, as the team targets the Murray Netball League’s top echelon after finishing ninth in 2022.
Reigning club champion and co-coach Remy Day has stepped away from netball, but the Eagles have seen United’s 2021 best-and-fairest Jess Davidson return to the club after achieving a league accolade with Echuca in the Goulburn Valley League.
Former Cobram A-grade star Tessa Bruni has also crossed over to the nest to bolster the midcourt, and United coach Jess Saunders believes the Eagles have a squad that can contend for finals.
“Our goal is going to be top eight and finals contention,” Saunders said.
“I think that’s really achievable with the group we’ve got.
“We’ve had a 20-strong group of girls put their hand up in the A and B squads, so it’s going to make my job hard at selection.
“I believe we can build on what we did last year and focus on playing good team netball.”
