The salivating contest at Barooga Recreation Reserve is one of many hotly-anticipated games in the opening round of Murray Football League.
Cobram last squared off against Barooga in June 2019, but come 2pm on Good Friday — it will have arrived in a flash.
“It's come around really quickly,” Barooga coach Tim Hargreaves said.
“One minute you are organising playing lists and starting pre-season and the next you know it's round one this Friday.
“It sort of feels like Christmas eve.
“The whole club, the league and region is excited to have footy and netball back. It's been such a long wait.
“It's a good rivalry the two clubs have and we are hoping for a big crowd.
“All the players can't wait to run out and get stuck into it.”
One of the leading players fans will be eager to see in action is former AFL big man Jackson Trengove.
The former Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs utility arrived at Barooga at the end of the last year and is certain to inject excitement in the league.
Trengove will pair up and form a formidable duo with fellow big man and past league best-and-fairest winner Brodie A'Vard.
● Deniliquin get a chance to move to 2-0 with an away match to Finley.
The Rams held off Moama in last weekend's season opener and saluted by 34 points.
Deni’s best player was ruckman Bryce Scoullar, who returned to his home club this year, and forward options Ash Morris and Todd Gallagher.
“We knew it was going to be a scrap and I was rapt with how our guys hung in there,” Rams co-coach Sam Hall said.
“Moama were always going to come hard with that bit of a breeze at their back. But our defence held strong and our midfielders pushed back hard, which was pleasing.
“We really lifted our tackling intensity in the second half and I thought we hit the ball hard and that helped create opportunities for Ash (Morris) and Todd (Gallagher) up forward.
“It was a great result for the club for so many reasons.”
● Rumbalara plays host to Numurkah at Mercury Dve.
Rumba will have a plethora of familiar faces run out on Friday, with Peter Hood, Corey Wanganeen, Allan Norris and Dylan Kerr set to feature.
And Numurkah will begin a new era under Sean Harrap, with the 2018 Shepparton premiership coach getting a chance to lead the side this weekend.
Congupna will take the first step on its path to returning to finals action when The Road travels to take on Mulwala.
In 2019, The Road were defeated by eventual premier Nathalia in the preliminary final and they look destined to challenge again this year.
A swathe of Shepparton United recruits, headlined by Matt Di Bella, will bolster Peter Sheehan's outfit.
Lastly, Echuca United will cross the border and take on arch-rival Moama for another instalment of the Three Jacks Cup.
