Murchison Cricket Club was one of 12 successful applicants in the 2022-23 Cricket Victoria Canteen Grants program.

Cricket Victoria, in conjunction with CitiPower, announced on Tuesday 12 clubs that were successful in the latest round of funding.

Clubs were able to apply for grants of up to $5000 each.

Murchison will be able to use the funding to support a range of necessary upgrades in the club’s canteen, including electrical upgrades, refrigerators and oven replacements.

The funding allocated to the 12 clubs totalled $56,000.

The program, now in its fifth year, has provided more than $270,000 in funding which has been distributed between 69 Victorian cricket clubs.

Murchison was one of 132 cricket clubs that submitted an application this year, the most of any year to date.

“This year, we had a record number of applicants, which highlights the importance of this funding in assisting clubs, volunteers and communities,” Cricket Victoria chief executive Nick Cummins said.

“It’s pleasing to be able to provide funding to support projects at 12 clubs this year and also to better understand the current circumstances and challenges at clubs across Victoria.

“Over the five years the Canteen Grants program has been running, almost $300,000 has been provided to Victorian cricket clubs to upgrade their facilities, which is an outstanding result.”
