Moama has vaulted into second spot on the Murray Netball League A-grade ladder, at least temporarily, following a big 49-20 win over Congupna at the weekend.

The Magpies were in control of the contest from start to finish, extending the margin at every break en route to the 29-goal win.

A 10-6 advantage at quarter-time was quickly stretched to 22-14 at the main break, with the home side confirming its pre-game favourite status.

However, in the third term Moama made a real move, piling on 18 goals to three to blow the lead out to a game-high 23 goals.

It proved unassailable from there, with Moama only furthering the gap in the final term, with the margin ballooning to 29 goals at the final whistle.

The win sees Moama improve to a 6-2 record through eight matches, while also boosting its percentage to an impressive 158.99, the second-best in the league behind the undefeated Rumbalara.

However, the Magpies’ standing in second place may be short lived, with third-placed Tongala (6-1) yet to play its round eight match against fifth-placed Finley (5-2), with a win for the Blues set to demote Moama to third spot.

In the split round’s other matches, Nathalia claimed bragging rights in a thrilling one-goal victory over Mulwala, winning 38-37, while Numurkah and Barooga split the points following a similarly hair-raising 32-all draw.
