The Roar, who sit one point behind ladder-leading Albury United, took the title race to the final round on Sunday, downing Twin City in a thriller away from home.
With scores locked at 1-1 through much of the encounter, it took an 88th-minute Corso strike to break the deadlock.
Cobram coach Vince Iannucci labelled the game a “cliffhanger”.
“I remember looking at my watch and there was a minute and 37 seconds on it and I thought ‘gee, that’s a good time to get that’,” Iannuci said.
“I was pretty happy and relieved, the race is still alive now, it’s all down to the last game.”

Iannucci highlighted the performances of Anthony and Tom Corso, with Taner Tekin playing well in defence and Luke Goodin also doing well.
“Most of them played quite well,” he said.
“Aaron Feldtmann will come back in this week and then next week we get everyone back for the first week of finals.”
This weekend the Roar face a must-win encounter against Wodonga Diamonds away from home, with title rival Albury United facing an away day to Myrtleford.
“I absolutely think we’re a chance of winning the league,” Iannucci said.
“Myrtleford are no pushovers, especially not at home.
“It’s all up to United, we’re not the ones that are feeling any heat.
“We’ll be trying to keep some tabs on the game that is going on in Myrtleford, but not withstanding we’ve still got to win our own game.”
The Roar will play their last game of the regular season at Wodonga’s La Trobe ground on Sunday at 3pm.
If Cobram wins and Albury United loses, the title will be the Roar’s.
