On the high of their triumphant win over Murchison-Toolamba, the Wombats held nothing back against the Roos at Girgarre Recreation Reserve.
The Roos never looked in it as Lancaster nailed seven goals in the opening stanza, with Girgarre sneaking through one and a few behinds.
The Wombats continued their dominance into the second period, piling on more Girgarre misery with a six-goal effort, with the host managing just one behind in reply.
The Roos found some scraps of form in the third period, kicking a trio of majors to pair back the deficit slightly, while Lancaster had a quieter stretch of a pair of goals.
However, that Girgarre form didn’t last, with the host unable to impact the scoreboard at all in the final frame, as the Wombats waddled their way to a resounding victory with five goals through the home stretch.
Usual suspect Thomas Davies showed his value as an important member of this Wombat attacking engine, while Zaid Besim was clinical up front, with four goals added to his season tally.
The 20.18 (138) to 4.5 (29) victory is vital for Lancaster as it has its sights set on a top of the table home-and-away season finish, narrowing the percentage gap to Murchison to just 32.45 per cent.
The Wombats will have a well-earned rest in round 15 and will return in round 16 to face winless Merrigum, while Girgarre will look to get back on the winner’s list against the Bulldogs in round 15.
