The always-improving outfit has been ticking the legs over earlier than expected. “We have started a bit earlier than in the past to try and raise our fitness levels,” Pellegrino said. “We’ve been on the track since November and we’ve been averaging 20-25 players which has been great.” Pellegrino highlighted some changes to Longwood’s coaching set-up during the off-season. “We have had a totally reconstructed coaching panel which is intended to bring in new skill sets and perspective,” she said. “Kait Carracher will take the B-grade and it’s really exciting to welcome her back to the club. “Carly Murphy will lead the C-grade, Stevie Dickman will take on the 17s again, while Nicole Dowell is a new coach and will handle the 15s. “Jess Webber is taking on the 13s and one of our most exciting announcements is that teenager Lani Shiner is taking the 11s role on.” By Aydin Payne Sports Editor
