At Avenel Recreation Reserve on Saturday, Dookie United thundered past Violet Town to record a sizzling 63-41 triumph in the A-grade semi-final.
The Thunder blew the game open with a dominant start to proceedings to book a Kyabram District League preliminary final date with Nagambie.
“I thought it was a really good game,” Thunder co-coach Georgie O’Connor said after the match.
“We came out firing like we did last week which was really good to see.
“We were just able to keep the lead and continue to extend on it.
“There was definitely a couple of times there where Violet Town were coming back at us but we didn’t drop our heads.
“We knew what we could do and we knew that we were able to win the game.
“I think everyone played a team game and we played for each other.”
O’Connor highlighted fellow co-coach Maddison Owen as one of her side’s standouts.
Owen shot lights out for the entire match and played a leading role in setting up the comfortable victory.
Teammates Gemma O’Sullivan and Hannah Henry provided valuable support and caught the eye of O’Connor.
Henry earned the praise of O’Connor for her work in the defensive end in the second half.
“Madi shot beautifully today,” O’Connor said.
“And Gemma coming off that line, she just seems to always get that centre pass.
“Hannah (Henry) played a great game.
“She’s one of our B-graders that has stepped up and she played a ripper second half.
“Really happy to be able to bring someone like her up and fit seamlessly into the side.”
Meanwhile, Sunday’s contest saw Tallygaroopna pencil in a 15-goal victory over Merrigum.
Played under blue skies at Central Park Reserve, Tallygaroopna overcame a determined Merrigum to chalk up the 39-24 result.
Claudia Callagher was a standout for Tally through the midcourt.
Tally now meets Shepparton East in next week’s preliminary final on Saturday.
