Heart of Dance is an aerobics studio led by two-time sport aerobics world champion Emma O’Keefe, who undertakes pre-school and primary school aged athletes for a variety of levels of the discipline.
Those competing for nationals are under the code of sport aerobics, which constitutes a 90-second high-intensity routine.
The girls have been training a minimum two times per week since December crafting and perfecting their performance, which saw them place in the top three at the state competition in Melbourne in June to book a ticket to the national stage in Queensland.
But with sport aerobics being a self-funded sport out of pocket for participants’ parents, the Heart of Dance studio is set to put on a show to raise funds for its interstate experience.
On Sunday, August 30 at 2:00pm, Heart of Dance studio located at 4/13 Industrial Road, Shepparton, Emma O’Keefe’s crew will be performing the routines that taken it towards a national title.
There will be raffle tickets available for $2, or three for $5, a barbecue, cupcakes “and other goodies” available to purchase to support Heart of Dance’s cause.
Raffle ticket prizes include a free school term signed up to Heart of Dance for any budding aerobics athlete, and an eight-week free training program at O’Keefe’s gym, The Shed, where she does personal trainer coaching.
“We’d love any help we can get to get our little kids there,” O’Keefe said.
“They’ve been training hard for the best of nine months perfecting this routine, and we’d love to see them shine on the Gold Coast.”
