No doubt the Tigers, who welcome Northerners to their home deck, will be determined to rectify the six-wicket loss.
Northerners mentor Steve Allen said the victory in the short format had helped instil belief in his playing group.
“It gave us plenty of confidence,” Allen said.
“It’s good to know that we have the capability against the premiership favourites. We chased down a good score and played some good cricket.
“But we know that it doesn’t guarantee us anything and we will have our work cut out for us.”
Adding to the challenge of taking on the competition’s ladder-leader, Northerners will be without key personnel for the clash.
Talented middle-order bat Tim Belford will miss with a back injury.
“We’re slightly undermanned for this weekend, which isn’t ideal against one of the top teams in the competition,” Allen said.
“Tim won’t play; he has a lower back injury.”
Both outfits enter this encounter off the back of narrow victories.
Central Park-St Brendan’s survived a thrilling three-run win over Katandra and the Jets broke through for their first victory in the Haisman Shield since December 18 — when they overcame Old Students by 18 runs.
“Last week was just what we needed. It had been a while since we had won a Haisman game,” Allen said.
