GVL 17-and-under netball - Gap widens between top and bottom half of the table

The top six in the Goulburn Valley League 17-and-under netball competition is as good as set with two rounds remaining in the regular season.

While Seymour, Kyabram and Mansfield remain mathematical chances of closing the two-game gap to Shepparton and Shepparton Swans, percentage differences between the teams make the task nigh-on impossible.

Mooroopna sealed the fate of the chasing pack with a thrilling four-goal win over the Lions at the weekend.

The Cats compiled a nine-goal lead by three-quarter time, but Seymour roared home in an attempt to keep its season alive, winning the final term by five goals.

But it was not enough, with Mooroopna securing a 46-42 triumph at the final whistle.

Jazmin Clark and Jordy Beattie starred for the Cats and Lions respectively.

Ladder-leader Shepparton United continues to keep its immediate rivals at bay, but one slip-up in the final fortnight of the season could have the Demons missing out on a double chance.

United is a game ahead of Echuca, Rochester and Mooroopna in what is a tight top-four, but has a significantly worse percentage than the trio behind it.

The Demons defeated Kyabram 58-37 on Saturday.

Echuca had the better of Shepparton in a 50-33 win, starting on fire with a 16-9 first stanza and going on with the job.

Mia Roberts, April Eeles and Lilli Oliver stood out for the Murray Bombers, while Taylin Wells, Elly Jeffery and Eliza Bicknell impressed for the Bears.

Rochester had the better of the Swans 61-31 at Princess Park as Teal Hocking, Alannah Weeks and Teagan Williams starred.

Ash McMahon and Lacey Pogue battled hard for the home side.

Tatura defeated Benalla 46-24, while in the other fixture of the round Mansfield dominated Euroa 53-16.

Molly Rekers, Kara Dolling and Meg Mahoney were everywhere for the Eagles, while Millie Watson, Hannah Kubeil and Mary Franklin worked hard for the Magpies.
