Played under Friday night lights, the Benalla Giants tackled the Benalla Bulldogs.
The Giants eventually had the better of the contest in a 8.7 (55) to 3.4 (22) triumph as Owain Boyle booted five goals in the clash.
For the Bulldogs, Montell Macfarlane kicked two goals and was best afield.

Benalla Giants turned the tables on their cross-town rivals, winning both the Under-12s and Under-14s matches at the Benalla Showgrounds on Friday night.
The Giants were too strong for the Bulldogs in two hotly contested matches.
Taking to the field first, the Giants’ Under-12s established a match-wining lead in the first quarter, kicking three goals to nil.
A further three goals in the second quarter saw the lead extend to 37 points at halftime.
To the Bulldog’s credit they fought back after halftime, keeping the Giants to just one goal.
Josh Hart and Kai Dervish both kicked two goals for the winners, while Liam Fielding, Noah Hogan, Josh Mathieson, Will Colville, Hayley Zeibell and Mason Butterworth were the best players.
For the Bulldogs, Linc Woolley, Angus Richardson, Jackson Fry, Josh Lewis, Josh Ward and Ryder Roberston were the best players.
In the Under-14s match, after an even first quarter, the Giants kicked seven goals to two to win by 33 points.
Owain Boyle kicked five goals for the winners, while Hamish Willett, Xavier Wapling, Cooper Binion, Cohen Symes, Mitch Cooney were the best players.
For the Bulldogs, Monty MacFarlane kicked two goals and was also his side’s best player.
Jesse Liddington, Rory Sammon, Dylan Pastuszka, Blake Calvert and Ryan Storer all contributed strongly for the Bulldogs.
Benalla’s Under-17 side recorded a 30-point victory over Wangaratta Centrals on Saturday.
Leading by nine points at three quarter time, Benalla kicked three goals to nil in the final quarter.
Liam Curtis kicked five goals for Benalla, while Jacob Decker, Sam Begley, Flynn Weeks, Miller Gilchrist, James Cooke, and Ed Tilton all played well.
