The Archer St courts were buzzing at the weekend as the Professional Squash Association Challenger Tour event had 32 elite players from 13 countries whittled down to four for Sunday’s finals.
And with a $6000 purse on the line, the competition’s finest steeled themselves for a battle.
Aussie hope Tate Norris, coming in as the sixth-seeded competitor in the men’s field, flew through to a second consecutive final to face Austrian tour veteran Aqeel Rehman in the hope of going one better.
Norris claimed the first set 11-6, but it was all Rehman from there in the final three, picking up his 15th tour title.
Meanwhile, Macau’s Gigi Yeung toppled Rathika Suthanthira Seelan 3-0 to go back-to-back in the women’s event.
