Kyabram and Tatura went blow-for-blow in tough conditions to produce a Goulburn Murray Junior League thriller at the weekend.

Kyabram rallied from 13 points down midway through the third term via Ethan Greiner’s two majors and one to Henry Millar, but with minutes to play in the match and only three points in it, both sides launched themselves at the footy.

The Bombers had eight more shots on goal in a low-scoring encounter, but the accurate Bulldogs kept pace right up to the final siren with a late Sidney Nihill goal setting up a grandstand finish at Tatura Park in the under-16 division one encounter.

Ky’s back six managed to hold the line, sealing a 5.11 (41) to 6.2 (38) result.

Anton Basile was influential for Tatura, his back-to-back goals in the second term setting up the Bulldogs’ charge alongside Patrick McCarthy and Rory Hearn.

James Priest, Max Stockdale, and Mitch Wilson laid the groundwork for Kyabram’s seventh win of the division one season, perched in second place.

Ladder leaders Shepp Notre continue to set the pace, accounting for Shepparton Swans in the local derby by 58 points.

Alex Whitlock booted six goals, while Tyson Muskee converted all four of the Swans’ majors.

At Victoria Park, the two Echuca side’s went head-to-head, with the Bombers unseating the Murray Bombers by 33 points.
