Auld, who coached Stanhope to the 2018 preliminary final, which it lost to Nagambie, now runs Central Victoria Player Management and Recruiting Consultancy — a recruiting service for country football.
Auld was interviewed about his business on radio station RSN during its weekday program RSN Central, hosted by Gareth Hall.
“Obviously, I've been involved in footy for a long time and I used to get people in footy circles giving me a call asking me if I knew any players over pre-season and the idea originated from there,” Auld said.
“I meet with clubs and find what their needs are and I talk to players and do the same.”
Throughout the interview, Auld explained how he gets players on board.
“I source the players in different ways,” he said.
“I watch a lot of vision of games and discover players from there, others might be referrals from players that I have already placed or I get leads on guys who might be looking for new opportunities.”
Despite the year off, Auld was optimistic clubs would have some spare cash to splash.
“Obviously, salary caps have been reduced a bit, but I think it's (country football) actually recovered better than first thought,” he said.
“Hopefully the season gets away and I think you'll find the interest in country footy will be very strong this year with people looking to get back to playing and getting to the games and enjoy being involved in it again.”
