Round 10 of the Goulburn Murray Women & Girls - Northern Country Women’s League saw Barooga host Nathalia at Barooga Recreation Reserve.
The Hawks dominated the opening term and led at the first break by eight points, with the lead growing to 10 points by half time.
Skipper Taylor Waldron moved the ball through the centre with devastating efficiency, booting a season-best three goals for the Hawks and top scoring for both sides.
Her efforts in front of goal were backed up by those of Mereani Lecanadau and Kiara Stephens.
The second half saw a resurgence from the determined Nathalia side, but it was too little, too late, as the final siren called an end to the low-scoring match.
Barooga took the win 5.6 (36) to 3.2 (20), earning its fifth pelt of the season, following last weekend’s 32-point downing of the Shepparton Swans.
In the women’s action, a single Barooga major wasn’t enough to stop a rampant Nathalia outfit cruising to victory 1.0 (6) to 5.5 (35).
The Hawks’ youth girls sit third on the league standings, two places below first-placed Moama, who they face this weekend.
Meanwhile, the senior women’s outfit will clash with Mansfield in what looms as a close contest.
