After a successful year both on and off the field the Murray Females Female Football Club celebrated the 2022 season with a presentation function at Rutherglen’s Barkley Park on Sunday afternoon.
Vote counts were held for all three teams with Abbey Ibrahim taking out the Under 14s best and fairest with a record 100 votes over Carrington Schmidt.
It was no surprise in the under 17s with North East and Border League best and fairest Ava Loughnan also taking out the club’s top award. Maddie Ibrahim took out runners up after a very consistent year.
In the Open Womens, reliable backliner Kaitlyn Robinson had an outstanding year taking out the best fairest over runner up Carrington Smith.
Special thankyous were made to the many parents and volunteers, coaches, trainers and on several occasions the huge amount of work of club secretary Nadine Nicholson was recognized and praised.
The Murray Felines are going from strength-to-strength with a constant growth of female footballers joining the club from year to year.
The growing club is now hoping for a positive announcement from the Victorian Government in October regarding funding for new female changerooms at Barkley Park.
