Six teams of four players took part in a format where everyone played against each other over the course of the competition, with prize money for the leading teams and individual spoils as well.
Every match of 16 frames took about three hours to complete, with three played on Saturday and the final two on Sunday.
The home tables advantage must have prevailed, as the only undefeated side for the weekend was the Deniliquin Bowling Club 1 side.
The combination of Cliff Eagle, Darren Thommers, Neil Goudie and Chris Burn recorded four wins and a draw to finish comfortably clear of Sutherlands Hotel (SA), with the Maryborough team winding up in third place.
Aaron Court, the Sutherlands Hotel’s publican, won 17 of his 20 frames to easily claim the individual crown, while Chris Burn and this scribe were fortunate enough to win 15, and Neil Goudie was fourth best with 13.
It was an extremely sociable weekend with all games played in great spirit, and all the visitors have said that they would love to return for any future tournament.
