Cuttriss’ junior cricket stocks rise

Family ties: Judd Cuttriss is making a name for himself in Goulburn Murray Cricket, the 11-year-old son of Rochester A-Grade captain Dylan impressive with successive 30-plus scores in junior competition.

Judd Cuttriss has been watching cricket since he was a toddler, his father Dylan a decorated Goulburn Murray association cricketer — and this year’s A-Grade captain — with Rochester senior ranks.

Last week at Tongala’s Brose Reserve the 11-year-old was making headlines of his own — playing alongside brother Orly — when he almost single-handedly guided his Rochester Blue Under-12 team to victory against its Kyabram Fire Brigade opposition.

Cuttriss faced 25 deliveries, struck five boundaries the only six of the match, but was removed with the final delivery of the 19th over for 36 with his side still needing two runs for victory.

The very next night, at Under-14 level, he followed up with a 51-ball, 38-run total that included six boundaries and helped his team to a huge total of 227.

Rochester Blue managed just one run from the last six deliveries and fell short of victory, although sister-side Rochester Gold reverse the result with a two-run last-over-win against its Echuca opposition.

Front foot: Cuttriss has been watching closely from the sidelines since he was young and is now reaping the rewards of the cricketing genes that run strongly in his family.
