Almost 80 overs and six hours of cricket couldn’t separate Mooroopna and Northerners as they battled out a thrilling draw in the Cricket Shepparton D-grade S J Perry Shield at the weekend.

Greeted with bright sunshine at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, Jets captain Shane Lines won the toss and decided to bat with no hesitation as his side looked to produce the upset it needed to push into the top four.
After a solid start courtesy of Shane Davidson (28), the wheels began to fall off the visitors after they hit the 50 mark, losing 4-16 to be well and truly under the pump at 5-66.

Jason Wisely tried his best to salvage the innings, smashing 46 off 48 to get the Jets into triple figures.
But a clinical bowling performance led by Cooper Child (2-18) and Richard Marsters (2-14) would help the Cats restrict Northerners to a modest 119 from 35.2 overs.
Confident they could chase down the 120 needed for victory, opener William Emanuelli got the Cats off to a bright start, hitting 43 off 75 to seemingly have his side in control.
But while Emanuelli was able to negotiate the Jets’ attack, his companions at the other end were not as fortunate, with a consistent flow of wickets keeping the visitors in the hunt.
Concentration: Karramomus’ Daniel Strudwick.

With the game on a knife’s edge heading into the final overs, Paul Bollard stood up for Northerners, producing a crucial spell of 3-19 to swing the game in his team’s favour, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win as the scores were tied when the 10th Mooroopna wicket fell.
Remarkably this was the fourth tie a Mooroopna team has been involved in in the past fortnight, with the B-grade, under-16s and 14 As battling out tight encounters.
It was a batting masterclass at Kialla Park Reserve, with an unbeaten century by Dayne Webber lifting Pine Lodge to a nine-wicket win over Old Students.

Old Students wicketkeeper Jason Bathman stole the headlines in the first innings, striking a brilliant 98 from the top order to see his side to an imposing total of 5-193 from its 40 overs.
But the Lodgers put the hosts to the sword in the run chase, with Webber (101 not out) and Braydon Kearns (89), putting on 174 for the first wicket to reach the target in 27.3 overs.
Central Park-St Brendan’s batter Peter Hogeboom made Victory Park his own, smoking 101 off 73 balls to lift the Tigers to a dominant 139 run win over Katandra.
While Karramomus closed out the winners’ list with a clinical five-wicket win over Shepparton United.
Perfect timing: Shepparton United’s Hamish McGregor.

Charles Ready produced the performance of the weekend in the Cricket Shepparton E-grade Whitelock Shield, striking an unbeaten 78 as Karramomus easily accounted for Murchison by nine wickets.
David Mollison got the ball rolling for the Bloods, taking 4-13 to help restrict Murchison to 122.

Ready then took charge of the chase, finding the boundary on 13 occasions (including six maximums) to see Karramomus to victory in 16 overs.
Tatura was far too strong for Mooroopna, registering a dominant seven-wicket win, while Old Students enjoyed a clinical seven-wicket triumph over Nagambie.
