It was another tough day for our A-graders coming up against a very well polished Nathalia group.
To our girls’ credit, they didn’t let the score get them down and as a group, they continued to work on everything we have been doing at training.
There were some great passages of play.
Congrats to Charlotte Rafferty for making her A-grade debut and the others who filled in for the players who were away.
Let’s regroup this week, continue to work on all the positive things and bring on a big game against Mulwala.
Awards: Kate Purtill (best on court), Hayley Denny.
B-grade: Finley 51 def Nathalia 48.
It was a great game from the B-grade girls.
The team started off very strong, our defence dominating in the ring, with our shooters beginning to convert every opportunity.
They did very well to implement what we had learnt in training on game day with it paying off.
Overall, it was a great effort from everyone who took the court; they all had a positive impact on the game.
Awards: Charlotte Rafferty (BOC), Georgia Southern.
C-grade: Finley 45 def Nathalia 38.
The team’s first win this season, and it was a whole team effort.
Our strong start set us up, and we worked hard to keep our lead to the final whistle.
BOC Nicole Hargreaves gave a masterclass in the WA position with great feeding and strong drives.
Paula Gowans, on her return from a short retirement, dominated and directed the attack end from GS.
C-reserve: Finley 31 def by Nathalia 58.
We came into the game with positivity and hope, but it wasn’t our day.
Looking forward there were some positives new combinations on court, our passages of play were good, there were plenty of drives and moving the ball around well, everyone played to position well and gave it their all.
Awards: Mandy Fleming (BOC), Meg Marshall.
Under-17s: Finley 49 def Nathalia 34.
Our under-17s faced a reshuffle this week, with several key players absent due to the Deb Ball.
Despite the disruption, the team adapted brilliantly and delivered an exceptionally strong performance.
It was inspiring to see the depth and versatility of our squad across the entire court.
Every player stepped up, embraced the changes, and responded to feedback with maturity and determination.
The result was a fantastic win and a huge confidence boost for our young Cats.
Awards: Charlotte Fleming, Taesharn Crowe.
Under-15s: Finley 8 def by Nathalia 28.
We came up against a strong opponent in Nathalia, and they were not going to let us get away with any weakness.
The Cats created a lot of pressure and forced turnovers, but couldn't quite find their rhythm to feed it into the ring and convert.
Awards: Sophie Urquhart, Amber Lawlor, Teliah Pyle.
Under-13s: Finley 12 def by Nathalia 26.
A great effort this week!
At half-time, the girls were even.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to keep playing to the same standard we had set, particularly in the second quarter.
It was great to see the girls trying to do the things we had practised at training.
Under-11s: Not scored.
Becoming a more united team week by week, the under-11s showed great sportsmanship throughout the whole game.
They showed great teamwork on the court, utilising each other in skill full ways.
Well-deserving awards went to Bailey Kennedy and Elsie Murray.
