The Road entered August 22’s final round already sitting comfortably on top of the table, but showed no signs of easing towards finals as they dismantled the Rams 25.18 (168) to 5.4 (34) at Congupna.
It completed a remarkable regular season for Congupna, which finished with a 16-1-1 record and 66 premiership points - some 14 clear of nearest challengers Cobram and Mulwala.
The Road had been the league’s benchmark for much of the year, with its only defeat coming against reigning premier Cobram.
Buxton was the headline act in the final-round procession, producing an eight-goal haul in a long-awaited return since round nine, as Congupna warmed up for its finals campaign in ominous fashion.
The spearhead struck twice during the opening quarter as the Road recovered from conceding the first goal of the afternoon to establish a 5.5 (35) to 2.0 (12) advantage at quarter-time.
From there, the minor premier simply accelerated.
Congupna piled on another six goals during the second term, with Buxton adding two more and Daniel Schaper also hitting the scoreboard twice, extending the margin to 55 points at the main break, 11.10 (76) to 3.3 (21).
Any prospect of a Deniliquin response disappeared after the interval.
The Road produced their most destructive football of the afternoon in the third quarter, holding the Rams to a solitary behind while adding 8.5 themselves.
Buxton, Schaper, Keegan Donovan, Kyle Mueller, Sam Slavich, Charles Boyer and Robbie Mifka all featured among the goals as Congupna surged to 19.15 (129) at three-quarter-time.
Buxton continued the onslaught in the last, adding another three majors to take his tally to eight, while Schaper completed an excellent six-goal performance of his own.
Mueller chipped in with four goals and James Boyer kicked two, giving Congupna multiple avenues to goal as it cracked the century-and-a-half mark with ease.
For Deniliquin, Mick Barnett, Sam Crossley, Ben East, Mitchell Grimwood and Charlie Hillier kicked one goal apiece.
The emphatic victory capped a home-and-away campaign in which Congupna finished with a percentage of 207.47, having established a sizeable gap over the remainder of the competition.
The final round also confirmed the make-up of the top six, with Cobram and Mulwala finishing level on 52 points behind the Road.
Nathalia secured fourth on 48 points, while Numurkah and Tongala rounded out the finals positions with 40 points each.
Elsewhere, Mulwala defeated Echuca United by 51 points, 12.18 (90) to 6.3 (39), while Finley ended its season with an impressive 14.12 (96) to 5.7 (37) victory over Tongala.
Moama finished its campaign on a positive note with an 11.8 (74) to 6.8 (44) win over Rumbalara, while Cobram defeated Nathalia by 36 points, 9.13 (67) to 4.7 (31).
The regular season officially concluded on August 22, with the Murray League's finals series beginning the following weekend and the grand final scheduled for September 19.
