BENALLA GOLF CLUB MEN’S RESULTS

Today, Wednesday, May 26, is a two-Person Aggregate stableford event and on Saturday, May 29, is a four-Person Ambrose event sponsored by Sharp Outdoor Power Equipment.

On an ideal autumn Sunday, May 23, the final to decide the Men’s Champion was conducted over 36 holes of Match Play between Andrew Shearer and Steve Thomas, with Andrew winning five and three.

The winners of the recently completed Club Championships are as follows;

BGC Men’s Champion – Andrew Shearer.

A Grade Champion – Adrian Squires.

B Grade Champion – Matt Thomas

C Grade Champion – Peter Chaszcziwsky

Founders Cup – Matt Thomas

Juniors Scratch – Lachlan Spinks

Juniors Nett – Lincoln Campbell

Veterans – Kerry Bramich

RESULTS: May 19

On Wednesday, May 19, 67 players competed in the third round of the Vets Championships, a stableford event.

The best score of the day, 43 points, was had by Kerry Bramich to win B-grade from runner-up Garry Henry with 36 points. In A-grade the winner was Brendan Quast with 38 points from runner-up Larry Piscioneri with 36 points on a countback.

The C-grade winner, with 35 points, was Don Spokes on a countback from Graeme Paull also with 35 points.

RESULTS: May 22

Last Saturday, May 22, 65 players competed in the third round of Purdey’s Putter a stableford event.

The best score of the day, 40 points, was had by Matt Thomas who B-grade with runner-up in B-grade being Ken Levy with 37 points.

The A-grade winner was Dan Squires with 38 points, with the runner up Ian Wise with 37 points.

The C-grade winner was David Gipp with 39 points and the runner up Peter Chaszcziwsky with 37 points on a countback.

The “Bear Trap” award for the sixth and seventh holes, was won by Dan Squires.

Women's Golf

A stroke round, the third round of the Club Championships, was played on Thursday, May 20, with 24 players.

Division 1 winner was Andy Haskell with 94/22/72 and division 2 was won by Suzanne Noble with 111/40/71.

Ball competition J. Baker 72, C. Day 73, M. Felmingham 73, M. Watson 74, H. Briggs 74, G. Gill 75c/b.

NTP 3rd M. Watson, Milner-Watson Pharmacy 8th K. Bailey, Ray White 12th A. Thomson, 14th M Watson.

On Saturday, May 22, a stableford round was played with 18 players.

Division 1 winner was Hazel Briggs with 33 points c/b, and the winner of division 2 was June Shennan with 34 points.

Balls went to L. Madden 33, S. Oakley 33, J. O’Brien 32, D. Shanks 29c/b.NTP 3rd Jo Martin, 8th Jo Martin.

This week a 4BBB stableford, the qualifying round for the 4-ball knockout, will be played, and on Saturday the event is a stableford round.

Marsha Watson is the Ladies Club Champion, decided after three stroke rounds of golf.

Runner-up was Hazel Briggs, and Handicap winner was Marg Felmingham.

Champions in other grades are B-Grade winner Andy Haskell, runner-up Chris Ogden, handicap Roma Watkins.

C-Grade winner Coral Day, runner-up Anne Brown, handicap Jenny Baker.

D-Grade winner Val Nicholas, runner-up Glenys Gill, handicap Jenny McKenna.
