The highlight of the evening was the life membership being awarded to Ian Bilney.
Ian joined the Corowa Civic Bowls Club shortly after it was established and has been a member of the board, which has included several years as president.
Ian has been a club representative on the O&M Pennant Committee for many years and continues to hold this position. He is a keen and successful bowler winning the club championship in season 2020-2021.
In November 2022, he worked tirelessly to protect the greens after being advised that flooding of the greens was imminent; he and his team spent the next 24 hours manning the pumps.
Ian generously gives his time and expertise to any maintenance within the club. He liaises with the greenkeeper, which includes line-marking of the greens and organises the removal and return of the shades from the greens as required.
Ian has been a great supporter, encouraging teams to enter the Business House Fours annual competition, also the Caravan Park Challenge each January.
The club thanks him sincerely for all his efforts and congratulate him on this special award. Ian is Civic’s first life member.
