Jim McGregor Shield ladder leader Murchison, pulled off one of the great cricketing wins of the season in its round 13 clash against Mooroopna White at the weekend.
It was raining wickets on Saturday at Murchison Recreation Reserve, with an astonishing 20 wickets taken on the first day of play.
The Grasshoppers were bowled out for a miserly 65 runs against the ninth-placed outfit — thanks to Gary Hallum's damaging 5-15 spell — but used that poor performance to spur them on out in the field.
Opening quick Dylan Rowney (3-13) ripped apart Mooroopna's top-order with venom, leaving the Cats struggling at 4-7.
Ben Twynstra went one better than his teammate and finished with a brilliant 4-7, as Murchison avoided defeat by dismissing Mooroopna for 46.
● Mooroopna Blue skipper Rob Marsters chalked up a magnificent ton that helped his side claim victory against Euroa.
The Cats champion dazzled onlookers with 19 boundaries in his run-a-ball 107 knock, which backed up his handy 2-3 with the ball.
● Toolamba gun Greg Watts enjoyed a superb day on the field in his side's first innings win against Karramomus.
Watts produced a magical 6-20 effort to help dismiss the Bloods for 54 runs and backed that up with an impressive unbeaten 66, as the Taipans reached 6-197.
● Second-placed Numurkah secured first innings points against Pine Lodge, after a stunning team bowling performance rolled the Lodgers for 58 runs in reply to the Blues’ total of 92.
And Shepparton United must take 10 wickets and defend 120 runs after Nagambie reached 0-48 in reply to United's first innings dig.
United's James Jarrett (65 runs) and Russell (51) Jarrett stood tall with the bat in their side's 168-run total.
